Pharmacoterapy of peptic ulcer disease. Part 2.H. pylori eradication. In this paper principles of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) eradication with prescription-only drugs was described. Author highlights the importance of correct use of some chemotherapeutics (e.g. clarithromycin), which " besides Hp infections " are effective in infections caused by multiresistant bacterial strains (e.g. atypical mycobacteria) or are still effective against many other microorganisms (e.g. amoxicillin and ciprofloxacin). Main risk factor related to widespread use of some antibiotics in Hp infections presents possibility to transmit resistance factors to multiresistant (or still susceptible) strains. Recommended European treatment strategy for the eradication of Hp (first- and second-line therapy, management of resistance) was summarized.
