Hydrotrope and micellar solubilization of drug substances poorly soluble in water. The paper discusses the mechanism and formulation constituents used in hydrotrope and micellar solubilization of selected classes of biologically active substances in the pharmaceutical production of solid oral dosage forms as well as preparations administered to the skin and mucous membranes.
