Basic methods to obtain plant fats: Fats are a reserve nutrients for plants and animals. In plants, the biggest amounts of fat are found in fruits and seeds. From the chemical point of view, fats are esters of glycerol and long-chain fatty acids. Depending of a fatty acid type occuring in a high content, fats could be divided into solid fats with predominating saturated fatty acids and oils, where unsaturated ones are the greater part. Fats are most commonly obtained by pressing. The render and extraction are other methods used to gain fats. Pressing crude drug in a low temperature and in a low pressure gives fats of the best quality, which are used in pharmaceutical and nutritive industries.
