Orally disintegrating tablets (ODT) are novel solid dosage forms, which disintegrate in contact with saliva without the necessity of drinking water. Among various manufacturing methods of preparation,direct compression is taking into consideration as the most suitable because of its simplicity and relatively low costs. This article reviews superdisintegrants used for formulation of orally disintegrating tablets by direct compression method.
